Each of the Texas Amateur Hockey Association (TAHA) and the Dallas Stars Travel Hockey League (DSTHL) have established a cooperative policy for the 2024-25 season tryouts to ensure tryout schedules that allow players both the opportunity and option to try out for a desired level or team and a distinct separation between that level and the subsequent level. For example, Tier I/AAA tryouts take place before Tier II/AA tryouts that take place before A/A2 tryouts.
Currently, 2024-25 our Association tryout dates are anticipated as follows:
2024-25 Tryout Dates:
June 8/9 – 10UAA, 12UAA, 14UAA (Tier II), 18UAA (Tier II)
June 15/16 – 10UA, 12UA, 14UA, 16UA, 16UAA (Tier II)
Our Association is committed to fielding teams at the above age divisions/levels (AA, A, A2) where the DSTHL permits and where Houston Youth player numbers, skill, and commitment levels support travel hockey team expectations.
Registration & Schedule:
Registration for 2024-25 tryouts will open mid-late May, and a finalized schedule, together with the rinks/dates/times for the respective Prospect Skates, will be posted on the website as those schedules become available.
USAH Age Classifications for the 2024-25 Season:
2014 & 2015 – 10U
2012 & 2013 – 12U
2010 & 2011 – 14U
2008 & 2009 – 16U
2006 & 2007 – 18U
NOTE: 2016 birth year players (Major 8U) trying out for Association teams are encouraged to be familiar with the TAHA Mite ADM Policy, located on page 24 of the TAHA Guidebook/Rulebook. 2017 birth year players, and younger, are not eligible for tryouts.
